About Museums in Lisbon

This site sets the museums of Lisbon next to each other: the Gulbenkian, the national museums run by Museus e Monumentos de Portugal, the city museums run by EGEAC, the private foundations in Belém and the smaller collections. It reads each museum's own website for the day it closes, the price, the current works and what the collection holds, and adds the tickets that GetYourGuide sells where one exists. Why It Exists

Lists of the best museums in Lisbon are easy to find. Most of them still send readers to the National Tile Museum, which is closed for works, and few say that most museums in the city shut on Monday while the Gulbenkian shuts on Tuesday.

Those are the details that decide a museum day, so they lead every page here.

Where the Figures Come From

Opening days, hours, prices, free-entry rules and closures come from each museum's own website and from the agencies that run them. Lisboa Card terms come from Visit Lisboa. Ticket prices, ratings and review counts come from the listing on the platform that sells each ticket.

When two sources disagree, the museum's own website wins and the page says so.

What You Will Not Find

There is no invented curator or art historian behind these pages, and no claim that anyone from the site toured a gallery last week. Reviews shown are short excerpts from four and five star platform reviews. A problem that comes up often, such as a closed day or a long ticket queue, is written into the page with what to do about it.

How the Site Is Paid For
